Ten Sports Live Cricket Match – Star Sports Live – SL vs NZ 2nd Test Day 3 Live – Test Match Ten Sports Live
15:33: Well, the inevitable has happened as play has been suspended for the day due to rain. The rain arrived just before the lunch session and since then, it has refused to relent. And it has forced play to be called off prematurely. So, only 66 overs have been possible in two days of cricket which means we have already lost 114 overs due to rain in this match. Sri Lanka won’t mind this weather at this stage as they find themselves in a hole after a horrible morning session. They started the day in a strong position but the combo of Boult and Southee were at their lethal best and both produced double wicket overs in their respective spells to rock the middle order of Sri Lanka. There is still enough time in this match for a result but the weather forcecast isn’t the greatest for the next few days. Hopefully, sun will welcome us tomorrow, join us at 9:45 AM. Until then good bye and take care!
15:25: It is still raining and Sri Lankan cricketers are making the most of this rain break by playing cards.
14:40: The ground is completely covered now and the rain has got heavier. The chance of any play today looks unlikely but, if the rain stops soon, we can trust the groundsmen to get everything ready in around 30-40 minutes. Remember, bad light has been consistent in this series and it becomes an issue around 5 PM.
13:50 The situation looks grim as the rain is steady and the chance of restart anytime soon is pretty less. Hopefully, we will come back with a better news.
13:20: It is still raining in Colombo and post-lunch session won’t start on time. The whole ground is covered by the covers. It doesn’t look good at the moment but the positive is that rain isn’t heavy and groundsmen here are outstanding. We are in for another 40-45 minutes of delay at least.
12:43 Local Time, 07:13 GMT, 12:43 IST: Umpires have called for lunch and the groundstaff charges in with the covers. It’s raining in the background and the groundstaff is quick to cover the entire ground under the blue sheets. An excellent morning session for New Zealand and it were the swing kings – Boult and Southee who did all the damage. Boult bowled a double-wicket-maiden in the first hour wherein he got the wickets of Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera. Soon after, Southee got into the act and removed the Lankan skipper and Dickwella in the same over. Dhananjaya was given a chance by Boult and the all-rounder has managed to make the most out of that dropped catch so far. The pitch has started to assist the spinners as well, hence batting is going to get even tougher from here on. New Zealand would want to get rid of him as soon as they can, else he will hurt them. Back for the second session of the day soon. See you on the other side.
